What Is a Professional Mindset?

What is a professional mindset?

As a Professional Footballer with big aspirations your mindset and mental strength are probably the last thing you think about. Let’s be honest - there is still a huge misconception to what mindset/mental performance is and how you develop it.

The truth is players and clubs today are investing more into their mindset and mental performance than ever before. We believe it lays the foundation to allow the technical, tactical and physical attributes flourish, therefore maximising your full potential both on and off the pitch.

One of the most important decisions you can make today is investing in your mindset,  and I’ve personally experienced improvement and strength investing in my own. I can honestly say it’s made me a better player, a better person and it’s helped me deal with the successes, setbacks and disappointments professional football throws at you.

As a player or a club looking for ways to improve and evolve I truly believe investing in our mentorship program can give you the best possible chance of fulfilling your potential.

Thank you for taking the time to view our website and we look forward to working with you in the future.

What is Mentorship?

It is essentially about helping individuals develop more effectively. It is a relationship designed to build confidence and support so you are able to take control of your own development and performance.

Mentoring is not the same as training & teaching, we will need to be able to listen and ask questions that will challenge you to identify the course of action you need to take in regards to your own development.

The following definition provides useful insight.

“Off-line help by one person to another in making significant transactions in knowledge, working or thinking”.

Off-line means a mentor who is not the individuals manager or coach. A mentor is different from a manager/coach in that they will not have direct responsibility for the individuals performance but they will be responsible for encouraging the individual to work towards their own individual objectives and be a motivating guide for the individual on their journey.

How can Mentorship help me?

Our role will cover some of the following.

  • Listening.

  • Asking questions to help develop your understanding of a situation or problem.

  • Provide information and knowledge and share informal networks.

  • Provide advice on career development.

  • Offer different perspectives.

  • Provide support and encouragement.

  • Provide insight into my career.

  • Be a sounding board.

  • Be a critical friend.

  • Encourage self-reflection.

  • Help you identify areas for development.

As a mentor, I will have the opportunity to use my experience and knowledge in a facilitative manner to support the development of the individual. However, the responsibility for making things happen and putting plans into action lies primarily with the individual..

The Benefits Of Mentoring
